The stay was really nice. We learned the difference between ocean view and oceanfront view. :) We had 2 balconies, one from the living room and one from the sliding doors in the bedroom. Very clean kitchen and bathroom areas. Hotel was older but had new carpet and smelled really nice. The sofa in the living room needed replacing, was difficult to sit in...you just sank into it. All the staff was really nice and we had everything we needed. One tip..take a DSL cord with you, the wireless service isnt strong. They have them at the front desk with a $*. deposit. I'd definately stay again.

Getting away from the cold weather of Michigan was our main objective. Avista staff was very helpful and the location on the North beach was fantastic. The indoor and outdoor pool area was always clean and accomodating. Even though we only used the refrigerator, the full kitchen was really nice! The only negatives I can think of: the washer/dryer unit wasn't working but the front desk was willing to replace it but we opted not to. The parking garage was across the street but this was due to the fact that they wanted to maximize hotel beach front property. Each suite could use a 1/2 bath in the main sitting area. Overall, we had a GREAT time and we definitely plan on going back next year! As a side note, the sun hits the South tower in the AM and shines on the North tower in the PM. Also, the rooms are very quiet, pitch dark, soft beds and the master bedroom has a door - this was a very nice touch!

We stayed here in peak season of July 2009. The pools are great. Beach is great. Restaurant was OK at best. Parking is across the street in a private garage. This made for some extra walking, but not a huge deal. Plenty of food and drinks close by. The activities for the kids each day was a nice feature we were not expecting. Did have a leak in the tub in our room but was handled well by maintenance. All in all I would recommend this resort to others, especially considering the cost.

We arrived late on a Friday night. The desk agent was very polite and helpful. The washer/dryer combo in our unit was out of order. We thought the Avista Resort should not have rented out this unit. Additionally, the concierge was not at all helpful. She only tried to get us to attend a seminar to purchase a condo. The resort was very clean, and the food was great.
